Getting There

Laos is nestled in the centre of Indochina. It shares borders with China and Burma to the north, Cambodia to the south, Thailand to the west and Vietnam to the east.

The easiest way to get to Laos is by air.

The Wattay International Airport Vientiane situated 3 km (2 mi) from the city centre, has scheduled flights to and from the Laos capital Vientiane, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Kunming and Siam Reap.

The newly constructed Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok Thailand is by far the most direct way of reaching Laos from major cities around the world.

From Europe the choices are endless. A wide range of good airlines fly from most capital cities to the Thai capital at very reasonable prices.

From Bangkok your choices are easy. You can fly, take the train or an overnight bus all the way into Laos.

Thai Air and Lao Airlines operate daily flights from Bangkok to Vientiane.

Bangkok Airlines have flights leaving from Bangkok almost daily to Luang Prabang.

Once in Vientiane these airlines have three daily flights between Vientiane and Luang Prabang.

The Luang Prabang International Airport, 4km (2.5mi) from the city centre, is modern with good facilities and has daily flights to and from a range of different origins.
